Servers Stolen!?

I have been thinking more and more these days, for a number of reasons, about hosting servers in the cloud (read Amazon EC2 instances).  How about one more reason to do it in the cloud and not in a data center:

Peter Gabriel's Servers stolen from the data center!

Can you believe it? Apparently there are more cases of high profile server theft in Chicago and London.  I know, hosting in the cloud for physical security is a stretch, but I have admit I did not expect an IDC "rubbed"...

eBay and Skype!

Well, most of us remember the jaws dropped at the multi-billion dollar valuation of Skype when eBay acquired the company.  It look likes, however, that eBay has started to regret what they did...

Amazon's one-click patent coming back!

Ok, this is just a funny story in case you were following when Amazon patented they "one-click" check out, and later on when it was rejected.  Now the rejection is rejected!

Amazon filed an appeal when USPTO decided to reject the patent application because the method was deemed "obvious".  The case has been reviewed by three new USPTO examiners, and the result is that the new guys have "rejected the rejection".  What they are saying is that they have not found the obviousness, and are asking the original examiner to explain, in a more obvious way, what he found so obvious in the application!

Ok, enough jokes, back to work...
