Six Degrees of Separation

Microsoft researchers have done a very interesting study - archiving a huge amount of random IM conversations and analyzing them to find the average "distance" of any two randomly selected persons.  The data set is huge - 30 Billion conversations among 240 Million people.  And guess what - the average distance?  6.6 persons.  Amazing!
