About Nasser Manesh
Welcome to my page! I started Unixica as a hobby in 1999, hosting it on a Solaris box serving content out of my home in Pennsylvania on a DSL line protected by an OpenBSD firewall. So that tells you that I'm a technology person. After close to two decades of software work, these days I am less involved in technical details. I am an entreprenuer and sometimes I provide advisory consulting to people and companies in the software space.
I'm the CTO and co-founder of Frucall, a mobile (voice/SMS/mobile web) comparison shopping service. Prior to that I co-founded Millenigence as the CTO and architect of DashPhone, company's IP Telephony application platform. Before getting into entrepreneurial stuff, I was a web infrastructure architect at Penske, a $3.3B GE Capital company.
Unixica is a collection of lessons and thoughts from starting two companies, plus news and articles I find interesting in software, technology, and business. As an entrepreneur and a CTO I enjoy following what is happening in the industry and what's shaping up the future of hi-tech, and at some point I thought I should just blog them for my own benefit as well as people I constantly send links and articles to :-)
Infinite Spirals is my notes, thoughts, and collection of articles/videos on the art of Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan). Taiji is an ancient Chinese martial art focused on the internal energy, with a lot of health benefits. After learning the simplified Yang form and a couple of combined forms, I am now working on the Chen style Taiji, which is the oldest.
My other interests are playing the setar, a traditional Persian instrument, and quantum physics because it ties into a bigger picture of universe, sprituality, and the oneness of us with the world around us. I don't think I will ever have time for blogging on these topics though!
The original Unix related content I used to maintain on this web site is available the Historical Unix Information section, which is about Unix, its history, and the creators of Unix. It's not being updated anymore, but will remain accessible because I love Unix.
Thank you for visiting Unixica.com. If you need to reach me, please feel free to email me at nasser (at) unixica.com.
